What is Artificial Intelligence (AI)?

Today the world is rushing towards modern technologies. Second by second the development of modern technology is reaching its peak. One of the major successes of the technology world in this regard is the concept of artificial intelligence.

Today's modern world is running on the basis of computer. Basically artificial intelligence is a phase of development in computer science.

  Intelligence-Promotion

Intelligence or intelligence is the mental capacity for reasoning, problem solving, and learning new skills. It is a complex process that involves cognitive functions associated with various skills such as perception, attention, memory, language and planning (Colom, 2010).

Experts define intelligence as the acquisition, understanding and application of knowledge.

Likewise, another definition of intelligence is the ability to think and reason. Alan Newell describes intelligence under the framework of his "Integrative Theory of Cognition" as this intelligence can be natural or artificial.

Fairdosen (2004) defines intelligence as: That is, biological intelligence is based on the five senses controlled by the mind. Whereas machine intelligence is based on artificial sensors transmitted by machine neural network. That is, natural beings gather intelligence through their senses. Whereas machine or artificial intelligence is gathered by machines by simulating nature. It includes the activities of gathering, compiling, interpreting and disseminating knowledge and information for action.

  Artificial Intelligence- Definition

Artificial intelligence has been described differently in different eras. The term artificial intelligence was first coined by John McCarthy. First coined the term artificial intelligence
Founded in 1956 by Stanford University's Department of Computer Science. (Gravier 1993, p. 50) This hypothesis is based on the claim that intelligence, a core feature of humans, can be described as accurately as a machine can. (McCarthy, 1955)

Later defined artificial intelligence as a natural phenomenon and not an artificial system. Rich and Knight (2004) explain this as follows.

Artificial intelligence is defined as trying to create artificial systems that can perform better at tasks that humans currently do best.

After these explanations, the tendency to define artificial intelligence became more profound. That is, artificial intelligence is the study of ideas for creating machines that give answers that are consistent with traditional responses from humans. That is, it means giving machines human abilities such as thinking and judgment. Such machines must engage in critical evaluation of a subject and the selection of differing opinions within itself. These man-made machines, though artificial, must be in harmony with life, soul, and feeling. This has been explained on the basis that they are involved in tasks such as problem solving, reasoning and understanding natural language. It can be easily explained as artificial intelligence, which is the method of creating various computer programs and inputting them into the computer and making a machine think and act through it.

This artificial intelligence includes intelligence skills such as planning, problem solving, multidisciplinary thinking, learning ideas, and implementing what is learned.

Today's modern researchers have discovered many branches of artificial intelligence.

1. Logical Artificial Intelligence

It refers to solving a problem logically based on the factors available to him.Mathematical logical decision-making is key in this. Example: Checking whether one digit is greater or less than another digit.

2. Search System

This selection system is an important part of artificial intelligence. That is, it means looking for a large number of possible elements to achieve a given goal and drawing a conclusion from it. For example, programs developed for chess games look for every move we make next to how a piece moves to it and moves its piece accordingly.

3. Data visualization

It refers to storing information in a logical manner following a specific system. Only if it can be stored in this way can it be possible to make logical decisions or carry out search effectively. The accuracy of data representation will increase and the ability of artificial intelligence will also increase.

  4. Ability to infer

Another important aspect of artificial intelligence is the ability to infer. That is, from some facts we can infer some other facts. For example, if a bird is chirping, we can assume that the bird is flying. But if the luminescence is a penguin, it can be concluded that the bird is flightless. Here the bird, the sound of the bird and the characteristics of the bird must be perfectly correlated with each other in the data representation. Only then will the hypothesis function properly.

5. Common sense and rationality

These are the two fields that are still lagging in research when it comes to artificial intelligence. The harsh truth is that mankind has not succeeded in making machines capable of human-like reasoning. For this purpose researchers have made several attempts. An example is the CYC scheme. It contains almost one million data representations. Everything is human input. With this data it is able to draw some conclusions. But it cannot infer generalities beyond that data. This is its weakness.

Advantages of artificial intelligence.

Artificial intelligence helps reduce mistakes and errors. The reason is that they operate in a very precise system. Also they don't get tired. Due to their programming they can do more and harder work responsibly. And due to the use of artificial intelligence, the need for human resources is saved.
The reason is that artificial intelligence is being used globally as digital assistants today. Similarly, robots using artificial intelligence give importance to logical rather than emotional thinking when making decisions. And with the help of this artificial intelligence, tasks can be repeated without getting bored. Humans naturally get bored when doing the same work over and over again. Robots can complete such tasks as many times as they want without getting bored. One of the advantages of robots is that they can perform multiple tasks simultaneously. Likewise, artificial intelligence is widely used in fields such as medicine and space research.

With the help of artificial intelligence in the field of medicine, many tasks such as diagnosing diseases and carrying out surgical treatments are being carried out today. Simulators used in the medical field simulate brain activity and help diagnose neurological disorders.

Similarly, if we take the space industry, it can be said that today it has completely become under the rule of artificial intelligence. There is no alternative opinion that if everything crosses the boundaries of cosmic averages and reaches us precisely, it is the help of this artificial intelligence.

Disadvantages of artificial intelligence.

Although the world today is getting massive benefits through artificial intelligence, some disadvantages are also seen.

This means that there is a huge financial need to develop the equipment used to implement artificial intelligence.

Also their maintenance also requires a lot of money.

And no matter how much we try to make them work like the human brain, we cannot provide these machines with the reasoning that is found naturally in humans because machines have no emotions. They can only successfully carry out things that have already been planned. However, these machines do not have the ability to handle unfamiliar situations.

Many mathematicians like Rose Penrose have even mentioned that machines that operate using algorithms cannot compete with the power of the human brain.

So it remains to be seen whether artificial intelligence will be more successful than we expected and will surpass humans.
