The best time to visit Bathalangunduwa Island is from December to April. During this period, the sea is seen without turbulence. The sea is rough from May to November.

Baththalangunduwa Island has an area of 145 hectares. While traveling from Kalpitiya to the island by boat, one can enjoy many wonderful sights.

If you want to travel to this island, you can find public boat transport facility and if you want, we can also book a private boat.

Public ferry departs from Kalpitiya Fishing Harbor at 8 AM and reaches the island at 12.30 PM on all days except Sunday.

Again it will leave for Kalpitiya at 1:30 PM. Up to 30 people can travel on board. The fare is 1300 rupees per person.

The ferry ride from Kalpitiya to Baththalangunduwa takes three to four hours
It is a one kilometer walk from the Pattalangund landing port to the camping area or one can hire a small boat to reach the place from the Pattalangund area.
Bring enough drinking water and camping equipment.
Bring relevant documents like ID card passport or driving license for registration.
As there is a shortage of toilet facilities, it is advisable to bring portable toilets.
Activities that pollute the beautiful environment are strictly prohibited.

The island can be reached in an hour by high-speed boat.

Due to the lack of clean drinking water on the island, visitors to the island are advised to bring bottled water with them.
There are only two small box stores on the island. There you can buy limited items that you need.
The traveling vehicle can be parked in the port area. A corresponding fee will be charged.

Baththalangunduwa Island is a fishing village. About 3000 people live there.

Majority of them are Catholics from Silapam and Negombo area.

Fishing is the only livelihood found on the island.

The water in the pits turns salty over time. Due to this they have to suffer great hardships for clean drinking water.

Most of the people who lived in the island went back to their native places due to this and the conditions in the country.

One part of Athens borders the vast Indian Ocean and the other part borders the massive Gulf of Portugal.

Most of the island is open to tourists.
